I appeal to the present generation of jews in Israel to be the torchbearers to change the situation and provide justice for the Palestinians. Not only will it restore your dignity internationally and make you feel more secure, but also remove the general negative preception of Israel. Your future generation will be proud of you.

I have been thinking about this for a while. Now hear me out... 90% of Israeli Jews approved of the recent brutal IDF war on Gaza. These people are not stupid. Israelis saw that Palestinian doctor in grief over losing three of his daughters when IDF forces inexplicably shelled his home. I'm a Jew and they are Jews. Did their hearts not ache while a grown man wept for his dead daughters? Did they feel nothing?

Though I'm not Israeli, merely knowing my American tax dollars paid for the weapons that ended these young, promising lives riddled me with guilt. I couldn't help but wonder if the victims might have aspired to follow in their fathers' medical footsteps, or may someday, have served as legislators, jurists or diplomats.

That night I logged into Twitter to search #gaza thinking the Zionist Jews would be silent, hiding their heads in shame. Alas, to my chagrin they did quite the opposite. As you can see with even a cursory scan of Gaza-related tweets, these brave Jews live in the United States and have never known desperation or helplessness. Initially I wanted for the belligerent hawks and their families to feel the Palestinians' pain. Within seconds I acknowledged that the children of the Zionist warmongers cannot be blamed for the the crimes of their fathers.

BUT WAIT! The IDF, the self-appointed "most moral army in the world", killed almost as many kids in Gaza as adults! Not one IDF soldier was killed in combat, despite Israel's claim that its military was only returning Hamas fire. There were at least 40 toddlers under age four killed by the IDF during Op Cast Lead. Those youngest victims surely couldn't have been mistaken for Hamas militants could they? Why were they targeted? Was there suspicion they'd voted for Hamas? Did they ever have a choice whether to call the Gaza prison camp home?

It suddenly occurred to me that Jews feel shame about not resisting their Nazi oppressors. Those roots are deep. So when they see a Palestinian kid throwing rocks at a tank it reminds them of their collective shame. That these people are bravely resisting their occupiers, belies the more than 60 years of brutal subjugation they've suffered at the hands of the Zionist plunderers. The palestinian real story has yet to be told.If israel does not do the right thing then the world must ban together, and boycott israel if that doesnt work maybe a blockade,. they would for sure bring out the nukes....i can see why iran is so nervous ...

Yes, I agree with you. But on the issue of Erdogan, he is new, and he's a practicing Muslim, which changes things radically. Turkey has been very quiet about the transformation that has been taking place recently. I think they have more up their sleeve.

I am SO looking forward to war crimes trials over Gaza.

Blog is looking great :)

Erdogan's walkout might signal a shift in attitude amongst world leaders - under Bush, I doubt Erdogan would have done what he did.

Australia's Gareth Evans, who heads the International Crisis Group made some pertinent comments - unreported thus far in Australia, I might add. First he said it was deeply depressing (I didn't find it so myself), then added

“I thought the tone of the debate had been reasonably moderate up until Shimon Peres laid some heavy-duty stuff on the line, in a very uncompromising and rather un-Peres like fashion,” he said.

“In particular, what was depressing was Peres’ utter unwillingness to acknowledge the real significance of the Arab peace initiative and to respond to Erdogan and Amr Moussa, saying how important it is that Israel formally say that the plan is a major step towards peace.

“Turkey was Israel’s best friend in the Muslim world. I think Israel has to come to grips with the fact that it has alienated a very large proportion of the world’s population.”

In my view, the more Israel marginalises itself, the more likely the global boycott will succeed.

What's more, despite Tipsy Livni's vain protestations, it looks like the <a href="http://www.kadaitcha.com/2009/01/31/israeli-war-criminals-to-receive-spanish-justice-after-all/" rel="nofollow">Spanish war crimes trials will go ahead. :)

Furthermore, it also looks like trials of Israeli war crims will happen in Turkey too.

You are right that every child has a right to live peacefully but look at those innocent gaza children, their dead bodies are asking from us that why they were treated like this:
